1. Verify game files

Steam: right-click the game, Properties, Installed Files, Verify integrity. Epic: Library, three dots, Manage, Verify. Then reboot and retest — this alone fixes a large share of launch crashes.

2. Update GPU drivers and Windows

Install the latest GPU driver (clean install if problems persist) and make sure Windows is fully updated, including optional .NET / Visual C++ updates.

3. Disable overlays and third-party injectors

Discord, Steam, Epic, GeForce Experience, Xbox Game Bar, MSI Afterburner / RTSS and ReShade all hook the game. Disable them one at a time to isolate a culprit.

4. Remove mods and custom files

If you added anything to the game folder, remove it and verify files again before troubleshooting further.

5. Run a clean boot test

Close all background software (browsers with many tabs, updaters, cloud sync, RGB/peripheral suites). If the crash stops, re-enable apps in batches to find the conflict.

6. Check antivirus / Controlled Folder Access

Add the game folder to your antivirus exclusions and check Windows Security’s Controlled Folder Access, which can block games from writing saves or config files.

7. Rule out hardware instability

Factory-overclocked GPUs and unstable XMP/EXPO memory profiles can crash new engines. Test at stock clocks to rule out hardware instability.

How do you report a crash?

Gather your GPU and driver version, Windows build, what you were doing when it crashed and any error message, then report via the official Discord. Watch the updates hub for hotfix notes — we list them as soon as they are officially published.
